The third annual Haringey Voluntary and Community Sector (VCS) Expo, organised by The Bridge Renewal Trust and Haringey Council, will take place on Thursday 29 November 2018 at Tottenham Town Hall, N15 4RY, from 11am to 4pm.

New Step Free Footbridge Open at Northumberland Park station

A new step free footbridge is now open at Northumberland Park railway station.

The new footbridge, part of the £170m Lee Valley Rail Programme, has step free ramps and will soon have a lift making Northumberland Park station step free to platform for wheelchair users, buggies and people with restricted mobility.

Hundreds of residents attended the first People’s Day to be held in Tottenham Green Leisure Centre.

The event was a colourful celebration of the local community and gives dozens of groups and individuals the chance to showcase their services in various stalls and demonstrations. There were also areas for tea and coffee, cake stands, a tombola and even the chance for free massages.

Hannah Azieb Pool joins Bernie Grant Arts Centre as Artistic Director

Curator, author and journalist Hannah Azieb Poolis is joining the Bernie Grant Arts Centre as its new Artistic Director, effective February 2019.  Hannah most recently served as Senior Programmer for Contemporary Culture at the Southbank Centre, where she curated Africa Utopia, the annual festival celebrating arts and ideas from across Africa and the diaspora, and was a key programmer of the WOW Women of the World festival.

LIGHTING UP OUR COMMON’S FUTURE

A twilight consultation on the future of Page Green Common saw dozens of residents turn out to submit their views underneath a special light installation in the trees.

The event was arranged by Haringey Council and architects MUF which will be using the feedback in their designs and plans to transform the common between Seven Sisters and Tottenham Hale into a place to benefit the community.

The third Haringey Food and Drink Festival takes place on Sunday 30 September, 11am-6pm on Tottenham Green. It is a free, family friendly festival with live music for Haringey.

Around 45 local growers, produce, street food, bakers, artisan, local breweries, gin makers and more will be there. This is your chance to meet the makers!

Proposals to close ticket offices at Bruce Grove and White Hart Lane Stations

London Overground is proposing to review and modernise customer service on the London Overground.

As part of the proposals a review of ticket offices has been carried out and closing fifty one ticket offices across the London Overground network is being considered. The proposed closures are at stations where there are fewer than twelve ticket sales per hour throughout the day. In Haringey this includes White Hart Lane and Bruce Grove. Consultation runs until 11 October.

The old oak in Bruce Castle Park has been nominated for Tree of the Year 2018. The tree is one of only 10 trees from across England on the shortlist from hundreds of nominations. Voting starts at 9am Monday 17 September and ends on 7 October.
