Have you ever wanted to draw trees but are not sure how to get started?

For London Tree Week (Sat 27 May - Sun 4 June) Tottenham Art Classes are collaborating with Tottenham Trees to celebrate trees by holding a beginners drawing workshop with artist and tree enthusiast Joanne Roberts. Join them for a free workshop on Sunday 4 June from 12pm at Marcus Garvey Library.

About the Artist

Joanne Roberts trained for a Masters at The Slade School of Fine Art. Joanne then went on to train in Illustration at Putney School of Art and now works as a freelance Artist and Illustrator as well as teaching courses. Joanne is currently writing a book on trees; it is written as a diary exploring trees throughout the year including scientific discoveries and old folk tales and remedies.

Workshop Details

  • Introductions to trees
  • Demonstrations on simple tree drawing techniques using the 'Y' method
  • Group walk around Tottenham Green (weather permitting)
  • Drawing trees from life

Marcus Garvey Library on the Ground Floor, 1 Philip Lane, N15 4JA

Free entry but spaces are limited to 15-20 people on a first-come, first-served basis.

Materials (dry, no paints) will be provided but feel free to bring your own sketchbooks and drawing materials.

Please bring a portable stool to use if we get to draw outside on Tottenham Green.

Extra spaces will be available at our discretion but participants may need to bring their own materials.
