Haringey is an exciting, fast-changing and exceptionally diverse borough - of our population of 255,000, about two-thirds are from ethnic minority backgrounds with over 100 languages spoken. Haringey is one of the most deprived boroughs in the country and its stark health inequalities provide substantial public health challenges.
Local Area Coordination (LACs) is an innovative approach to supporting people with disabilities, mental health needs and older people (and their families/carers) to achieve their vision for a good life, to support people to be part of and contribute to their communities and to strengthen the capacity of communities to welcome and include people.
Haringey Council's Public Health team are looking for two LACs, one for Northumberland Park/ White Hart Lane, and the other for Hornsey wards. Please feel free to specify if you wish to work in a specific area or both areas.
You will need experience of working alongside and supporting individuals from the above target groups and an understanding of asset based community development. You will have an understanding and practical experience of advocacy and supporting people to plan for the future. You will be a creative thinker who is able to work in innovative ways and you must be committed to co-production.
